Oh, no, I totally dig Al Sharpton. I've always felt alone in that.
I don't know the answer to the other question, T, but there was an interesting thought on TV just now, which is that one of the reporters said that the lawlessness is not nearly what it's made out to be, and that all these buses are parked outside the city with the drivers saying they're not going in because they're scared. But as always, I think the answer is probably a complex web of bull-shite.
Oh...hey...I just found the first bit of comic relief on TV, and Betsy, this is up your alley. MSNBC is promoting the concert tonight (something I have absolutely no interest in watching...it's sad, but I've turned cynical about these events...more on that later). Anyway, they were scrolling a list of celebrities and I just caught it out of the corner of my eye. Eriq Lassalle....Leonardo DiCaprio...Marcia Gay Harden...and the list scrolls and scrolls with more names, and then I see...Marcia Gay Harden....and some more names.
Marcia Gay Harden, apparently overnight, is now big enough of a star to be DOUBLE BILLED. Thank goodness! Marcia Gay Harden will be the difference! She'll bring the cash! She'll tug enough heartstrings for two!
The infrastructure along the Gulf Coast has broken down enough that getting the proper help via the proper channels has become impossible.
Teo, I wonder what the folks in Vicks. are doing? and for the record, my Aunt in MS. is fine. she is going to Ft. Myers for the holiday, unless Delta airlines runs out of gas.
DNA - I've been thinking about the folks in Vicksburg as well. My guess is that they are A-OK and high and dry...I haven't heard about damage that far north...and they are on the top of the hill, too. Still, I bet they have a lot of "visitors" in towns throughout north Mississippi, and I bet they have a few people staying with them as a result (they do have the space, don't they?).
Betsy - yes. Better than nothing. Certainly. And I know it's mean, but I keep chuckling with the thought of Eriq Lasalle and two distinct Marcia Gay Hardens saving the day. I only have a vague idea who Marcia Gay Harden is, but the fact that she will show up twice makes be giggle.
I'll post my true cynicism toward those shows at another time...

And by the way, Al Sharpton is asking the right questions and making sense.
Al. Sharpton.
I am totally 100% serious. Not joking. Not going for a laugh.

I know. Editorial oversight. It's funny.

Oy. I can't say I have much patience for those shows either, but it's better than nothing.
