Politics and Religion? Why not just talk about death and go for the trifecta of uncomfortable topics?
From the pinata:
This article (actually, it's sort of an amalgam of two articles) is from the San Diego Union Tribune this week. It relates to the topics of faith, politics, and culture that have been at the hub of some of our recent postings.
And then there's this. I thought this was the sort of thing we all decided was bad - maybe I missed something?
I hope the gang in the Exodus group bears in mind that Moses and the people of Israel spent 40 years in the desert during their Exodus - the original one, that is. It would be a darn shame to spend the next 40 years of one's life trying to find South Carolina.
I promise that my next post will be about something smashingly funny.

I had assumed you were referring to the articles, but the clarification is appreciated. (I would like to put a smiley face emoticon at the end of the preceding sentence, but those are verboten.)
Of the first two articles, the first one made me happy with phrases like "the religious left" and "the moral center". Not sure if I fit in either of those, but I'm glad that someone is paying attention to the fact that a certain faith has been hijacked recently. The second article made me squirm.
As for Exodus...the only Exodus I want to hear about is Bob Marley's, because it's seven full minutes of the most badass groove you'll hear. Listen to the drummer. No snare drum. Bass and hat, for seven minutes. Badass.
The second article made me squirmy too ... and wasn't the original Exodus about LEAVING somewhere?
Ah, well. If I, myself, were to go looking for a promised land, I know I'd totally prefer a land flowing with grits and gravy over all that milk and honey humbug.
Leslie,
Great point. The original exodus - which even for the non-religious is a really good read - was about being delivered from a place of honest-to-goodness oppression. Pharaoh enslaves the Hebrews and then has them make bricks without providing any straw. (I'm no expert on brick making, but I gather that straw was a fairly critical ingredient.) That's quite a far cry from some dude in northern California being uncomfortable because of the makeup of the Supreme Court.
