Adios, Amigos y Amigas

Sadly, the Hombres have decided that the time for this blog has come and gone.

Teo started the B**** Blog about exactly a year ago. Last summer was (mostly) filled with some fresh, bloggy ideas. Some were funny (Flying Toast), and some were psychology driven, some were social observations, some were political, and some were miscellaneous updates on the early summer activities by the lake. We ended up having a nice cadre of 8 or 10 regular posting visitors.

In July, my new supervisor made the predictable (and correct) observation that my personal meanderings might not be the best thing to have on the web, as that type of first-person authorship could affect a therapeutic relationship. So down came the B**** Blog.

Two of the regular contributors to that blog were college buddies from back in the day. I had become accustomed to blogging and wanted to continue, and I thought it would be fun to include my boys Kev and Vin. I had been out of touch with them for quite a while, but the bond we developed in 1988 was alive and well in 2005, and the idea to group-author the blog sounded like fun. Tres Hombres went live.

Much fun was had. But a year later, the blog seems to have come to a natural end. The Hombres are all in agreement that we are glad we did it, but the current level of inspiration just doesn't seem to be there at the level needed to keep this an interesting place. So Tres Hombres will come down in a few days.

Many thanks to all of you for contributing to some real fun and interesting discussions over the past year. I'm glad we did this.

Maybe there will be another blog in the future. If there is, and you'd like me to notify you, shoot me an email or leave me a message here and I'll keep you posted. You know, literally.

Betsy, LB, DNA, DAM, Smussy, Jose Manzana, and those of you who read but did not contribute...many thanks for hanging around and making this fun.

And Felicity? There. Is. No. Restraint.

Teo

Many thanks, Smuss. As for the blog roll, I think I can comfortably speak for mi otre dos hombres when I tell you that the reason that you weren't listed is 100% due to the fact that we didn't pay any attention to that stuff. Betsy was on there because she started the B**** Blog and when I transfered that template to this one, the link stuck around. I believe Kev put the other two links up there. After that, I don't think any of us knew what we were doing in that regard. You do it right with all of your links...we Hombres, however, simply didn't pay attention to that kind of stuff. So sorry about the slight, and I assure you there was nothing personal about it.

Thanks again for being part of this. I'll let you know if we start anything new.

Yep. I'm with Ted - I threw the link for Homestar and McSweeney's on there when I first got myself set up as a contributor to the site and then promptly forgot that those were even over there. No slight intended, but apologies anyway.

The challenge of this - or any - blog seems to me to be the challenge of coming up with fresh stuff frequently. It's really the pressure to "publish" (for lack of a better way to describe it) that makes it sometimes feel a little stale. And to be honest, my greatest desire sometimes was to simply post a "Hey Teo, how are you?" sort of entry, and that can be a bit to inside for the rest of the readers.

At the risk of sounding like a shill, I think that there is a place for any and all interested parties to stay plugged in and keep the conversations flowing, and that is MySpace.com. Now, I must admit that I do have some misgivings about MySpace (and actually started an Hombres post about the aforementioned misgivings a while back but deleted it for lack of time to complete it) and get a little creeped out by some of the advertising and a few of the freaky friend requests I get. However, I do like what MySpace is about and enjoy the ability to stay in touch with people and blog a bit. So, I'll probably move my blogging efforts there and you're all welcome to participate there and/or set up accounts and become myspace friends. (If you're already active at myspace, you know what I mean. If not, just go to myspace.com and setup an account. Tip: Just give as little personal info about yourself as you want up front - you can always change/add/delete info later.) Those of you wishing to find me - and at least one of the other hombres, but hopefully both soon - can navigate to myspace.com/mcsteak and find another of my online personas.

So I hope to see some of you around the myspace world.

Correction from the prior comments:

The last sentence of the second paragraph should read "...and that can be a bit too inside for the rest of the readers."

Hey, It's been real, it's been fun, but it hasn't been real fun.

No, I've enjoyed the blog and am sad to see it end. All the best wishes to the hombres and all who I've read here.

I am saddened beyond words and will now commence 40 days of wandering. Adios Hombres.

Can't you let us down easy with a few weeks of "best of" or something? Best of Felicity? Best political rants? Any excuse to re-run the "restless third leg" bit from the bo blog?

Best shoe photo?

Like Dick Clark, Felicity is ageless, fond of curious wigs and given to tender contemplation. In lieu of a worst of, consider the following time capsule:

•The Felicity De Ville (O! she was yar!)
•A K-Tell Pressing of "Super hits from the Founding Fathers"
•One dream about a small girl pointing to a large grasshopper
•Soggy Concertina
•Ample supply of moist towelettes
•Timmy Stinkfinger
•A throng of transgender hotties partying down with Felicity & Dolly Parton in Golden Gate Park
•Poem after poem after glorious poem
•A mostly used up roll of duct tape
•Vera Wang's Brazil Wax Kit
•Take out menu from Wallace's Catfish Corner
•Gratuitous crucifixation
•My intelligently designed third nipple
•Miles Davis was a friend of mine, and you sir, are no Miles Davis, motherfucker.
•thestateofthings.com
•ONE SPICY CHICKEN LEG
•Restraint

Wait a second. Scratch that last one. There is no restraint.

And thus it ends, not with a whimper, but with a bang.

Viva Felicity!

Sometimes good things have to come to an end, but we don't have to like it. Felicity, care to carry on the tradition?

I don't think we could possibly convince her. Felicity is never in one place long enough. A blog would tie her down. And you know how she feels about restraint.

Although, you also know how she feels about bondage, so maybe ...

Hombres, you need to carry on with SOME bloggy sort of thing, if only to provide Felicity a pallette ... which I probably mispelled!
