I'm behind the times as the book's been out for awhile, but I am preaching the gospel of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time for summer reading. It sounds gimmicky, but the book is supposed to be the journal of an autistic teen who decides to write a mystery story about the death of the pooch next door. He doesn't like fiction because he doesn't understand imagining what didn't happen, but he likes murder mysteries because they are like puzzles. So as a project, he starts playing detective even though it forces him to talk to people, which he doesn't like to do.

It's funny, but not flippant. It's short, and it has drawings. You will find yourself falling into the speech patterns of the narrator, and you'll be surprised at the clarity it brings to your thinking.

I think I'm going to read Motherless Brooklyn next.

I'd like to focus on the least important item on the list: What is the Sebastian Bach paradox? It sounds fascinating.
