Dang it! I took French in high school instead of Spanish.
This story should illustrate how keenly I am able to predict the future: I attended a very small town high school, one where the only language class options were French or Spanish. I shrewdly reasoned that I would be quite likely to visit France or Montreal, so I chose French instead of Spanish. The punch line? I have lived most of my adult life in Miami and San Diego.

In trolling a few of our recent conversations, I realize that I mention beer frequently. I don't mention this to apologize; rather,I mention it to point out that those of you who have guessed that I am an Irish pinata are probably correct.

That's the extent of my Spanish as well. I took French too.
